Chair's Report

By Brigadier Greg Wilson.    -

The world has undergone significant changes in the last few months, both in terms of geopolitics and technology. The increased tensions in Ukraine and The Middle East and the huge impact AI is having on the global digital agenda underscores the need for the Corps to continually evolve and adjust to these developments. Consequently, I am pleased to present our Corps Vision in this edition, which describes how the Corps will adapt to face the future threats and to provide the robust services required on the battlefield. In addition, one of the challenges the Corps constantly faces is Cyber Security and the great article by Christine Maxwell shows how defence is changing to secure a digital defence both now and for the future in Cyber Space. Additionally, in this edition we have the wonderful entries for the Corps Photography Competition.

By the time this Journal is published we will have attended the wonderful RSI 70th Anniversary Dinner at the Dorchester, London. Because of the growth in our support and demand we had to relocate from the IOD to the Dorchester for the dinner, where about 350 corporate sponsors, Corps personnel (Regular, Reserve and Retired) and colleagues from the other services dined together. I would like to thank everyone for their support and at the same time congratulate all our impressive award winners.

I would also like to use this opportunity to update you on a few changes in your RSI Committee. Brigadier Hugh Robinson, our deserved Princess Mary Medal 2023 Winner, steps down as Reserve Member and I welcome Colonel Vince Connelly as the Reserve Representative. You can read Hugh’s citation below. At the same time Lt Col Lewis Matthews hands over to Lt Col Nick Purdy as the Commanding Officer Representative.

Finally, I would like to thank Colonel (Retd) Andy Percival for his great contribution as our RSI Director for just over the last year. He has done an excellent job in updating our website, introducing our app, digital journal and setting up the new dinner. We wish him all the best as he returns to Army HQ. In his place Colonel (Retd) Liz Dallyn stepped in to cover the Dorchester Dinner until we welcome at the end of Nov 23 Colonel (Retd) Joe Cooper as our full time Director.

I hope you enjoy this edition. Certa Cito
